Happy Thanksgiving Greetings Dear Friends,
"Praise the Lord!
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." Psalm 106:1 Ah..the Thanksgiving
memories.plump, juicy Butterball Turkeys, tart cranberry sauce, steamy mashed potatoes and gravy,yum...the hot rolls with
melting butter, and delicious desserts! And don't forget the football games and family gatherings, and falling asleep
on the couch. True Thanksgiving blocks out the selfishness we have and ushers in the sincere spirit of gratitude, love,
and genuine joy. What do you have to be thankful about during this annual event? We have much to be thankful about!
It is hard to believe that we are about to spend our second Thanksgiving
here in Suriname. I know that I will be missing my mom's and my mother-in-law's yummy cooking, however Patricia and
I plan to share the holiday with all the other teaches at our principal's house. We will have the traditional meal,
complete with chicken rather than turkey. Turkey is hard to come by in the tropics. We will sit around and talk
and laugh at shared stories-no football games here-but we will still share in the spirit of gratitude. Be thankful
that you will probably be with loved ones this holiday. Our parents will need your prayers since they become
nostalgic around the holidays.
We've been pretty busy during the month of November. Our little dog, Doby, was
finally released from the vet's care. I AM VERY thankful about that. We were visiting the vet on a weekly basis.
God has touched out little one and has helped him recover quite nicely. His little brown eyes are nice and shiny
again. They are pretty much unclouded now, to our relief! So, now it is Patricia's turn. Lo and behold,
it is her turn to have Dengue Fever! Yes, Patricia began feeling bad 2 days ago. When she described her symptoms
to me, I knew immediately what she had. I had Dengue last October. We went to the doctor last evening and the
doctor agreed with my prognosis. Patricia also has a throat infection, but she is a real trooper. She has had
the last 2 days off from school to sit back and relax. We got her some medicine and she is resting comfortably.
We just ask that you pray for her quick recovery. Dengue causes fever and severe joint pain, however she has complained
a lot less than me.
Another prayer request, continue to pray for unity-Satan continues to stir up dissention among
certain Christians in our community. This frustrating situation could jeopardize the entire school accreditation process.
It is essential that our school receive accreditation for our students' sake. It is so sad how Satan deceives individuals. PLEASE
pray for God's intervention and that His will be done accordingly in this situation. "Now thanks be to God who always
leads us in triumph in Christ." 2 Corinthians 2:14.
Please continue to pray for teachers on our staff
and be praying about teachers for next school year. Also continue to pray about teacher housing for next year.
We
have a praise-Patricia's girls' bible study is going extremely well. The girls are actually hungry to hear God's word
and they eagerly anticipate the next study. Volleyball and our other bible study continues to go well too.
Patricia
is in the process of organizing the class trip this year for the 11th and 12th grade students. Pray for this process.
The students have been working extremely hard at fundraising for this endeavor. There are limited fundraising activities
here in Suriname. Pray for God's guidance and direction in choosing the destination for the trip. Also, pray for
the spiritual component of the trip. We have asked a few close friends to consider joining us on this trip. We
ask that you pray for God's direction for our friends' availability.
I have just updated our website with pictures
from this past summer's travels. Please check these out by clicking on the link. Who knows-you might see someone
you know! https://johnmcclung68.tripod.com/mcclungs/id12.html
In closing, remember to take a time of quiet reflection upon this past
year and use this annual reminder to remember that God has given and He has been ever so faithful. We pray that you have
a wonderful holiday. Please send us any prayer requests that you may have, so that we may pray with you.
Also,
it has come to our attention that some of you have requested support forms to help us out. If you need an updated support
form, simply contact us and we will email you one that you can print out from your home.
Thank you for keeping
us in prayer.
Joyfully Serving the King,
John and Patricia
