Leaving Suriname
FUN PAGE

Wow, we just enjoyed a whirl-wind summer by speaking at 5 different churches and travelling through 7 states.  We got to visit with a lot of family and friends and eat just about all the food we could handle.  Now, we were back for our second school year...and as you read on, some heavy spiritual warfare awaited us throughout this second school year...

Greetings Dear Prayer Partners,

Patricia and I have finally arrived back in Suriname after a lengthy adventure.  We, along with the other teachers, were stranded in Miami for about 10 hours due to airline mechanical problems.  They finally flew us to the little island of Curacao to spend the night (without our
luggage--it stayed on the plane).  We left Curacao around 2pm Saturday afternoon and arrived at our home about 8pm that evening.  We have been settling in and getting readjusted to the heat and humidity of the tropics.

First, we'd like to say what a joy it was seeing everyone back home.  Also, we would like to apologize to those of you who we did not get a chance to see.  Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support.
This is our first email back, so it will be short.  I will continue the monthly updates at the end of September.  In the meantime please be praying over these matters:

Please pray for the students that we will encounter this year, that we will have many opportunities to encourage them in their spiritual growth and personal relationships with Christ.  Also pray for the students that have not yet made the important decision of making Christ the Lord
of their lives--pray that God will use us in a mighty way to touch these young people so they will accept God's Truths and opportunity for eternal life.

Please pray for unity among the staff and school leadership and that we bring glory to God in all we do.  We have 2 new teachers this year and we still need 1 more.

On a personal level, be praying for our health and spiritual growth.  Pray for our safety as we bike to and from school. Pray that our financial burdens continue to be met.  And pray for protection from thieves that have been breaking into people's homes in recent weeks.

Please drop us a line anytime--email is a real morale booster!!  Also you may want to check out our website on a periodic basis (I will update it as soon as I get the chance).

God bless you and we will talk again soon.
Humbly, in His service,

John and Patricia
